Do Not Despair

Today’s devotion is for those of us who have felt the despair of daily troubles. I guess that means it is for all of us.  We have all faced times when life seemed so overwhelming that we begin to find ourselves feeling despair.  But the Lord wants us to be encouraged because He promises to help us overcome and to live in His hope, joy and peace.  Below you will find just a few of the promises of God’s word to help us when we are feeling discouraged.  He loves you and wants to remind you, do not despair.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed."  2 Corinthians 4:8-9

"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal."  2 Corinthians 4:17-18

"Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, 'I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,' so that we confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me.'"  Hebrews 13:5-6

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-29

"For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning." Psalm 30:5

"To You, O LORD, I called, and to the Lord I made supplication: What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness? Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me; O LORD, be my helper.

"You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever."  Psalm 30:8-12

"He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us."  Psalm 103:10-12

"This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil." Hebrews 6:19

"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary." Galatians 6:9

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners." Isaiah 61:1

"He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:29-31

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."  Psalm 147:3

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Philippians 4:8

Remember dearly beloved, you are loved so much that Jesus died for you and made it possible for you to face not only the trials of this life on earth, but He also  provide for you a place in heaven with Him where all the troubles, pains, sorrows, and trials will be gone and we will spend eternity praising Him completely free from sin, completely whole, no more sickness, no more decease, no more fears, no more doubts, no more aches in your heart and no more anxious thoughts.  His perfect peace awaits us all and we can embrace it even now as we embrace Jesus and the promises of His word.   So hold on, do not despair, the Lord is with you and will never leave you alone.
