Done to Me

Matthew 25: 34-40

The following verses are very familiar to most of us and we often use them when we are in the process of raising money to help someone else.  This is good and right, because by all means God wants us to use His word to confirm the truth that we are called to give.  However, as you read the verses also keep in mind that when we are called to give it is not always money He is talking about.  He is also talking about our time, attitudes, position, etc. What we do with the information God has given us, tells Him just how important He is to us as well.

So as you read God’s word today, open your heart and mind, set aside hurt feelings, broken hearts, disappointing situations, anger, bitterness, shame, fear, doubt and all the other things that bind us into the past and allow the Lord to speak clearly to your heart.  Because whatever we give to others, the best of us or the worse of us, we are also giving it to the Lord.

Matthew 25:34-40

“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and your clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’

Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You drink?  And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?  And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?

And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’”

There you have it, God’s word directly telling us that whatever we do to others we are doing it to Him.

Here are a few questions for us to reflect upon and ask the Lord to reveal the answers.  Then write out your answer, be honest with yourself and God and then let Him free you from anything that binds you.

1. What have you done to help someone lately? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

2.  What have you done to encourage someone? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3.  What have you done that hurt someone lately?  ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

5.  What have you done to encourage someone lately? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

6.  Do you feel justified in the decisions you made? ______________________________

Why? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

7. So looking at your answers, what have you done to God today?
